I feel grand parents are valuable members of the family and should be involved with the their grand children as much as possible. A child that has an active positive grandparent in their life truly has a treasure!
I don't judge those grandparents that have a "been there, done that" or "no one helped me" attitude and choose cruises over vacations with the grand kids but I see the flaws in that theory. They definitely are missing out and I'd spend a week with my grand kids over a cruise any day.
Not only do I create memories for my grand children but I create them for myself as well. One day my 9 year old grandson looked at me and said, "You truly are magical, grandma!" To which I replied, "Thank you, I've worked on being magical all my life and your the first one whose noticed!" We both beamed with pride and then we went off and did some more magical stuff together! A cruise could never build those kind of memories for me...sorry!
I have always seen a correlation between arts and crafts in building academic skills and strong family bonds. I even wrote an article. once proving that theory. Crafting and cooking kid friendly recipes are a way to entertain my grandchildren without spending a lot of money but having fun as a family. Children are our blessed elements of today and the future of our world and we need to nurture them in that manner. This website is dedicated to those goals.
