Alex Toys Super Sleuth Kit G!veAway

Toys that build a child’s imagination are often those toys where a child can role model as a super sleuth. If you can find a toy that enhances role modeling, curiosity and adds some educational value then you have a well-rounded toy. My friend Pam who blogs at Just Like June has found such a toy. Read her review and enter her giveaway for your chances of winning the wonderful Alex Toys Super Sleuth Kit Giveaway. This is what Pam says about this toy:

My secret dream when I was growing up was to be a detective, a forensics investigator, an FBI profiler or some job that involved sneakiness and stealth. While my goals changed over the years, I am still fascinated by these careers. If you’ve read my blog for any length of time, you know I continually try to sneak educational activities into our daily life. I try to disguise these activities as games and family fun. Sometimes I succeed and sometimes I don’t. Ask my kids who will tell you I try to ruin every vacation by adding an educational element.

I found a hit for the guys in the family (and me!) with Alex Toy’s Undercover selection. We’re fascinated by a Spy Show we’ve been watching on television lately so the Undercover Super Sleuth kit was right up our alley. Designed for kids (and adults!) 8 years and older, the kit includes the basics of learning how to be a detective. Not that we had many foul deeds or villainous suspects around our house, expect for the case of the cat who used the laundry hamper as a scratching post, but if we had we are able to make composite ids, take fingerprints and create secret codes. I wonder if I could create some messages like “clean your room” or “quit putting your feet on the wall” for the kids to decipher. Probably not.

The kids haven’t realized it yet but they’re learning basic science concepts while we are playing at being detectives. Score a point for me! I believe Alex has accomplished their mission of providing quality creative products that foster personal expression and build self-esteem. Remember, if they don’t know they’re learning, don’t tell them! They’ll just think they’re having fun and making discoveries on their own.
