Searching for the right gift to show your support for her goal for healthier living?

I received this product in exchange for review expressing my honest opinion. The opinions express here are 100% mine.

It’s been two years now since I found out about the products available at EatSmart. I reviewed their EatSmart Precision Retro Mechanical Kitchen Scale and it is still by far my most used and favorite kitchen tool I use. I find there is nothing better as a cook then to have a scale there to measure my ingredients that go into my recipes. It is much more accurate than using measuring cups and spoons alone.

They now have a new scale that has come to my attention and I really love the features that their EatSmart Precision Elite Digital Kitchen Scale has and the size of the product. It is small, light weight and easy to store if you don’t want to leave it on your counter top. The dimensions of this scale are 10″ x 7.5″ x 1 1/3″.

The feature that most attracts my attention and sells me on this scale is the ability it has for ease and simplicity of weighing food and the advantage it gives anyone wanting to count calories to achieve their goal weight and stay there.

I know all about counting calories because it has been 5 years since I lost 30 pounds and today I’m still 120 lbs because I learned how important it is to measure your food and calorie intake.

When I was on my diet I counted calories and exercised and that was effective for me. Sometimes I was amazed at how much I had been eating compared to the proportion size I was suppose to be eating.

I think this would be an ideal gift for any mom that is actively trying to loose or maintain her weight and health. I think someone changing their routine to be more health conscious would really appreciate opening this gift and value it and the support that she was being given to achieve her goals.

It is still a useful item when the weight is off as it can be used to measure servings to maintain weight or also useful in cooking to measure food being prepared for recipes.

I love that this unit is stainless steel. I’m all about stainless steel in my kitchen so it matches my taste and my decor.
It has four measurement settings of grams, ounces, kilograms and pounds. That makes it pretty universal in use no matter where you live and functional as well by measuring in a small set of ounces to pounds. The scale measures as low as .05 oz/ 1 gram to as heavy as 15 lbs /7 kgs

It has an easy to read backlit LCD display which makes reading the scale a breeze and there is no need for squinting to see the weight.

It comes with 4 AAA batteries and includes the great feature of a 3 minute auto-turnoff in case you forget to turn it off.

More importantly it is easy to set and to use and comes with a calorie factors book to help keep you knowledgeable about the calorie contents of food.
calorie book
Here is how that is used:
The book lists almost any food you may want to eat and gives you a calories per gram number. To see how many calories you portion would be you would need to
1. Turn on the scale
2. Set it to grams
3. Put a plate or bowl on the scale so you don’t have to put the item directly on the scale.
4. Zero out the scale with the tare feature.
5. Put the food on the plate or bowl and weigh it.
6. Multiply the weight times the grams given in the book and it will give you the calories of what you just weighed.

If you are searching for a gift for a mom you know and she loves to cook and or is trying to maintain a healthy diet and intake of calories then this just may be the gift you’d like to give. It is available right now for $36.95 in their store and has a 2 year warranty.

Portion control is so important in weight loss and using a scale is a key tool in that.

I NEED one of these. I know I would eat less if I was measuring the portions!

I think my husband and I could really benefit from a scale like this one. We are trying to do better at eating healthier and have better portion control – this would solve a lot of work for us. Thanks for the review!

I would be lost without my kitchen scale! So many of the recipes in my cookbooks ask for a specific amount of something in WEIGHT! I hate guessing when I am cooking!

This would be so helpful! I’m with you — sometimes you can try and count calories, etc., but we’d all be amazed if we had this to give us a reality check on portion sizes!
