Extending A Helping Hand Through Assisted Living

I’ll be back very shortly updating you on fun creative projects and great products that nurture the imagination. I’m currently helping an elderly couple to transition over to an assisted living life style.
For some elderly this seems like a very scary step as they are afraid they are giving up independence and allowing themselves to grow old.
I see a lot of advantages of assisted living facilities and feel my friends will be gaining a whole new aspect of quality living. Food is prepared and served in the dining area, their apartment will be cleaned and so will their laundry. True they will be depending on others to do this for them but it will leave them a lot of time to enjoy each other and attend the functions at their new place. The most important part of the arrangement will be if one of them gets sick then there will be a staff near by to help the other one to see that their needs are met if the other goes into the hospital. Often family members are not around any longer to help so assisted living facilities are an avenue that some may take.

So what are you plans for your elderly care and are you considering assisted living facilities?

Grace, you have the kindest heart! These are questions I’ll be facing some day soon with my mother, but do not have a firm plan in place. I think it’s scary/difficult for children, too, when their parent’s reach this stage.

Recently a friend and her mother both moved into assisted living. There are many good aspects to where they live now, but they do miss their old friends.

Grace, you are wonderful to help this couple.

My grandfather went into assisted living at age 99. My grandmother is 88 and lives in her own 1 bedroom. My other 2 grandparents passed away before they needed it. I haven’t even considered my own future needs, but you’re right – I should.
