It is no secret that I love Giant Microbes and all of their tiny versions of diseases, germs, and one-celled organisms they have on their site. I learn so much from that site and in turn I can pass the knowledge on to my grand kids when they come for a visit.
It is never boring over there on the Giant Microbes site, facebook, and twitter page.
There is always something going on and usually it is knowledge with a twist of humor on top.
Recently they just added 3 more residents on their site. Their fans can now learn about and own Minnow, Meningitis and Rotavirus.

I recently received the minnow and besides being impressed with the design I was really fascinated with what I learned about the minnow.
The Giant Microbes minnow is approximately 8 1/2″ long and about 2 1/4 high. I love his silver reflective fabric for his head and under body accented with wide eyes.
His top portion is a soft green pile that gives him that soft feel for hugging. His fins are made from a sheer iridescent fabric that completes his glowing personality.
Besides his award-winning appearance, Giant Microbes has supplied really interesting facts about the minnow as well.
For instance, did you know that they speak by making a pulsed noise and they can also change coloration when they are feeling love struck? Minnows are not defenseless as some may believe. They release a certain chemical when they feel threatened that is believed by some scientist to summon larger fish that will distract the predator that has alarmed them. Then while the predator is trying not to get eaten by the larger fish the minnow gets away.
So the next time you feel like a small fish amidst the sharks in life just remember that the minnow uses his size as an advantage.
