The Amazing World of Rotifers and W!n One Too!

There are days I wonder about my education of science in my academic life. I don’t know if I had poor education in the field or if I zoned it out due to my lack of interest in the subject. Amazingly both my son and daughter love and excel in science. My husband is truly a science nerd. I did not realize how much so until I was speaking to him the other day and made mention that I was going to be receiving a Rotifer from Giant Microbes.
rotifer
He actually stopped walking, turned around and (I exaggerate not one second when I tell you) there was a twinkle in his eye when he said “We’re getting a Rotifer? I love Rotifers” I have to admit my first thought after his statement was, “Oh my goodness you are a science nerd with a capital N!” In truth I am embarrassed to say I did not even know what they were. My science fair projects went to the extent of discovering amoebas and that was it.

Our Rotifer arrived and even though it is pink my husband has claimed it as his and he has been inspired to share a science lesson with the grand kids when they come over. Yes folks soon we will be proud owners of Rotifers both live from fresh water sources and the stuffed version from Giant Microbes.
That is one of the reason’s I love Giant Microbes they not only teach children and make life a learning experience but they can teach adults some new things as well.

My husband is thrilled with our new stuffed version of the Rotifer, and he has named ours Rhonda Rotifer. He says it is very similar to the live ones besides the color and their adorable eyes. There again, Giant Microbes have found a clever way to get everyone to remember a detail about the Rotifer by coloring it pink. Nearly all Rotifers are females. Can I get a sounding chant of female voices proclaiming Girls Rule and Boys Drool please?

This summer the kids are going to be home and what a perfect time to introduce them into the microscopic freshwater environment of the Rotifer. Setup those microscopes and look at some up close. To make the lesson last forever then buy a few from Giant Microbes so they will have a lasting memory of their Rotifer discoveries. Even if you don’t have a microscope you can still get the Rotifer’s from Giant Microbes and explain to your children what their function is in the animal kingdom of biology as they watch a clip like the one I found on YouTube.

Want another reason to love Giant Microbes? They are sponsoring a giveaway so you to can get a stuffed Rotifer like mine my husband’s.
