Weeds in Life

“It is important to expect nothing, to take every experience, including the negative ones, as merely steps on the path, and to proceed.” Ram Dass

Of course this is not a new thought but unfortunately it seems I need to remind myself of this daily.
I was drinking my coffee on the bench outside today and noticed weeds growing in my butterfly garden from yesterday’s rain.
Instead of scheduling a weeding time, I just sat my coffee down and pulled them at that moment.

I need to do that with my negative thoughts that encourage discouragement as well. I can’t prevent weeds from popping up but I can pull them when I see them. Same thing with negative thoughts. Negative thoughts may always crop up but I can identify them and pull them and discard them before they take root.

How do you handle your negative thoughts?

How true…sometimes I literally have to shake myself. Don’t judge! It is not my responsibility.

I do as you do, try to dismiss them when they crop up… but sometimes it’s difficult to not get dragged in, isn’t it?
