What Does Your Troll Look Like?

Duh!

There I am, aren’t I cute? I have a troll inside me that emerges during fits of impatience. This troll came forward during an update with Microsoft.
Originally I was going to claim this troll came from Microsoft but a self search recognized this troll in being all mine and only myself to blame!

My troll comes out to play when I’m impatient and when I’m in the state of ‘knowing enough to make me dangerous.’ Today I was updating from Microsoft for my net frame to enable me to play my games on my computer. I was downloading a net frame which I need before downloading Direct X (I think???) This is probably the moment I became dangerous to myself and my computer.
I traveled to the update site on Google Chrome. Microsoft didn’t like that and told me to return to their site using Internet Explorer 5 or above. “Okay” I thought, “I can understand they would want you to use their browser since you’re wanting their stuff.” I complied by returning there under the power of Internet Explorer 8 (64 bit). Microsoft didn’t like that either. Obviously they thought I was showing off and asked me to return with a 32 bit version. This is when my troll began to step forward. I returned with the proper browser and clicked the update needed. Everything was going swimmingly and then NADA!

No little green bar to tell me my progress for what seemed, FOREVER.
That’s when my troll took over. “Your computer is frozen”, it rationalized. “Click cancel and start over.” That sounded like sound reasoning so I clicked cancel and tried to start the download over. Microsoft didn’t like that and just replied with errors.
My troll didn’t like that and decided to start flinging his club. “Go uninstall the last update and remove the program and reinstall it” I traveled to the add and remove program and noticed that Microsoft won’t let you remove updates. It was at this point I realized that my troll was dangerous in a ‘stupid dangerous’ way.

I took a deep breath stepped away from my troll and thought, “Restart your computer” After restarting I returned to Microsoft and clicked install. My download began and then my green bar disappeared and it said it was still installing. I decided to sit on my couch and drink a cup of coffee. In about ten minutes the green bar appeared and SUCCESS!

Will my troll come out to play again? Probably! Oh yes, I see him now clodding across the horizon visually scanning the area while swinging his club while repeating the familiar phrase, “I want it NOW, damn it!”
