Once upon a time there was a group of people that just felt life could be better than what it was at the time.

They felt that everyone had a chance to develop and live their dreams. This opportunity to a better life should not be left available only for the rich but anyone of any status that was willing to work hard to earn success from their toil.
They felt a government should work for its people and not be a government that worked on the back of their people to benefit the government officials. All citizens had the right to be represented and reap the benefits of a free country.

They believed in this so much that they were willing to fight for it and if necessary to give their lives so others may taste freedom and the opportunities it offered. In 1776 our country became the manifestation of that dream.

We today owe them the respect and gratitude for the sacrifices they made.
And with that thought we also owe it to them to stand as a people united under the dream they fought to make it a reality and make our voices heard to keep our country set to the standards in which it was created.
Even our poorest experience freedoms that would stagger 3rd world country citizens and we have a lot to be grateful. I have the right and freedom to write my views and opinions on my blog without fear of retaliation from my government even though I voice opinions that would not support theirs.
However, we still need to insist on some changes so our poor are not limited from opportunities for education and making a better life through joining the work force and manifesting their own dream. We still need to have our voices heard so the elderly, children, and middle class do not have to sacrifice their right to happiness so the billionaires and government officials may escape taxes due to tax cuts and loop holes.
Here is a facebook page that may offer some solutions to take back our government and make it work for the people. If you agree with this then maybe you too may want to join and begin by having your voice heard as well.
Here are their goals:
Serving in Congress is an honor, not a career. The Founding Fathers envisioned citizen legislators, so ours should serve their term(s), then go home and back to work.
We Need Reform!
Mission Congressional Reform Act of 2011
1. Term Limits.
12 years only, one of the possible options below.
A. Two Six-year Senate terms
B. Six Two-year House terms
C. One Six-year Senate term and three Two-Year House terms
2. No Tenure / No Pension.
A Congressman collects a salary while in office and receives no pay when they are out of office.
3. Congress (past, present & future) participates in Social Security.
All funds in the Congressional retirement fund move to the Social Security system immediately. All future funds flow into the Social Security system, and Congress participates with the American people.
4. Congress can purchase their own retirement plan, just as all Americans do.
5. Congress will no longer vote themselves a pay raise. Congressional pay will rise by the lower of CPI or 3%.
6. Congress loses their current health care system and participates in the same health care system as the American people.
7. Congress must equally abide by all laws they impose on the American people.
8. All contracts with past and present Congressmen are void effective 1/1/11.
The American people did not make the current contract with members of Congress. Congressmen made all these contracts for themselves.
Serving in Congress is an honor, not a career. The Founding Fathers envisioned citizen legislators, so ours should serve their term(s), then go home and back to work.
